STUDENT VISA APPLICATION CHECKLIST

This checklist has been designed to assist you when lodging your application for a Student Visa with the New Zealand Immigration Service in Singapore. Note: You may be requested to provide further documents not listed below in support of your application.

Please ensure that all relevant documents are in order before submitting your application to us. This will enable us to accept and process your application promptly.

Please note that if you have not been studying in Malaysia or Singapore for more than 12 months we may have to refer your application to our office in Beijing for processing. In these cases the application will take longer to finalise.

Documents required:

1. Fully completed "Application to Study in New Zealand" form. Please ensure that your contact phone number is clearly stated in your application form.

2. A recent passport sized photograph to be attached to the application form.

3. An application fee of SG$122.00. Acceptable modes of payment include cash (exact change only), bank draft (made payable to "New Zealand Immigration Service") or credit card (Master/Visa). Please note that this fee is a processing fee and is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the outcome of your visa application.

4. Original passport.

5. Notarized birth certificate.

6. Offer of place from an academic institution, which must include the course of study, fee payable and length of course. For students with conditional offer of place, evidence that these conditions have been met or an unconditional offer of place is required.

7. Guarantee of accommodation in New Zealand.

8. Official receipt for course fees paid.

9. Fully completed "Financial Undertaking for a Student" form.

10. Evidence of sufficient funds to pay the course fee plus NZ$7,000.00 per annum living expenses for each of the first two years of your course.

11. A letter from your parent's employer or from the employer of the person responsible for your financial support. This letter should include annual income (including bonus), length of employment and position held. Also, it must be on company letterhead, bearing the stamp of the company and the signature of the head of the company or the responsible person of the personnel department.

12. Letter from your current school in Singapore or Malaysia providing evidence of your current level of schooling, attendance record and results.

For courses longer than 24 months, the following additional documents are required:

1. Police certificate from China not more than 6 months old if you are aged 17 years and above. If you have resided in a foreign country for more than 12 months in the 10 years prior to your application, police certificates from these countries are also required.

2. Medical and x-ray certificate completed by any registered general practitioner in Singapore or one of our approved panel doctors in Malaysia. Please note that this certificate must not be more than 3 months old.

Note: Medical insurance is not compulsory for students undertaking courses in New Zealand for less than 2 years. However, it is strongly recommended that students obtain this as students will not be eligible for health benefits in New Zealand.

Kindly note that all documents in ethnic language need to be accompanied by certified translation in English.

For applications lodged in person, please note that our submission time is between 9am to 2pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Processing Time:

Provided all documents are in order, the New Zealand Immigration Service, Singapore Branch generally takes 3 to 7 working days to process your application.

Courier fee of S$20 must be enclosed with all applications that require passport to be returned by courier.
